Troubleshooting the Norton Installation
Step 1. Check to see if your system meets the Norton AntiVirus requirements

Step 2. Delete Windows Temporary Files
Go to the Norton™ download page and make your selection.

Step 2. Delete Windows Temporary Files
- Exit all open programs.
- Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following:
- For Windows XP: Click Start > Run.
- For Windows 7 or Vista: Click the Start button, and then click All programs > Accessories > Run.
- In the run dialog box, type the following text: %temp%
- Click OK. The current user's Temp folder opens in Windows Explorer.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- Press Delete.
- If you are asked to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- On the General Tab, under Browsing History, click Delete.
- Click Delete files, and then click Yes.
- Click Delete cookies, and then click Yes.
- Click Close, and then click OK.
- Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.
- Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following:
- For Windows 7 and Vista, click Uninstall a Program.
- For Windows XP, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the list of installed programs, click any other antivirus program you want to remove, and then click Remove or Uninstall.
- To confirm that you want to uninstall the product, click Remove All.
- Click Restart Windows Now (Recommended), and then click Finish.
Go to the Norton™ download page and make your selection.

- The process for installing Norton on additional computers is the same as it is on the first computer.
- CenturyLink customers can receive a discount when purchasing additional licenses of Norton and other Norton products. Go to the Norton Store to purchase additional Windows licenses or Macintosh licenses. For technical support on additional licenses, see Norton Technical Support.
- If you want to install Norton on more than five computers without purchasing an additional license, then you must uninstall it from one of your existing computers before you install it on your new computer.
How do I uninstall Norton AntiVirus?
Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

- Click Next.
- Click Restart Now.
If the above steps do not remove the old Norton product from your computer, use the Norton Removal Tool.
Why do I need to install additional Norton AntiVirus updates after the initial installation?
- The initial Norton download includes the base Norton product. Once installed, the software will then check for the latest virus definitions and product updates released since the installation software was created. While these additional updates may take some time to install, it assures that your computer is fully protected from the very latest security threats.
